Abstract

This study examines the appointment considerations for administrators in Nigerian polytechnics with the focus on the interplay between ethical standards and legal framework. It explores the extent to which ethics and law are integrated into the selection process and identifies theories relating to the study. The research reveals ethical standards in administrative appointments in Nigerian polytechnics, legal frameworks guiding appointment of administrators in Nigerian polytechnics, the reality of appointment practices in Nigerian polytechnics the challenges hindering effective and transparent appointments and implications of unethical and illegal appointment of administrators in Nigerian polytechnics. The study suggested the enforcement of ethical guidelines, adherence to legal provisions and the institutionalization of transparent and merit-driven appointment process. It concludes that promoting integrity, professionalism and accountability in administrative appointments is essential for sustainable development and credibility of polytechnic education in Nigeria.
