Abstract

This paper discussed strategic Educational Management of Civic and Moral Education: A Catalyst for National Unity and Development. Education is a key foundation for a nation’s progress and development. It goes beyond teaching knowledge and skills to shaping values, attitudes, and behaviors that build social unity. Civic and moral education plays an important role in teaching citizenship, ethics, and shared responsibility. Many countries face challenges in managing these areas well, especially where diverse cultures and social differences exist. Disconnected policies and poor leadership often weaken education’s ability to bring people together around common goals. This is seen in places where ethnic, religious, and economic divides affect national unity. The paper is grounded in Transformational Leadership Theory, proposed by James MacGregor, which highlighted how leaders inspire and motivate others by sharing a vision, promoting innovation, and promoting personal growth to achieve common goals. The paper identified ways of promoting strategic educational management of civic and moral education: A catalyst for national unity and development, which includes; Visionary educational leadership, Teacher professional development, Stakeholder collaboration, Curriculum innovation and integration, Policy alignment and implementation, use of technology and media and Monitoring and evaluation systems. It therefore concluded that strategic educational management stands as a formidable means of harnessing civic and moral education to build cohesive, ethically grounded societies capable of sustained development. The paper therefore suggested that Educational leaders should champion visionary leadership focused on moral and civic values to inspire ethical educational environments. Also, Curriculum developers should prioritize integration of civic and moral themes across disciplines to deepen relevance and coherence.
