Abstract

This work assesses Ethical Standards in School Supervision for Sustainable National Development in Nigeria. Supervision is the process of helping, guiding, advising and stimulating growth in subordinates in order to improve on the quality of his work.  The Scope of School Supervision was examined; the purpose, importance, key ethical standards and unethical practices to avoid were considered.  In addition, the consequences of unethical behavior in supervision was looked into and the ways of promoting ethical conduct. Lastly school supervision standard was examined including key areas covered by supervision standards in supervision. It was concluded that Schools where unethical practices in schools cannot produce disciplined and quality graduates. This reduces the value of our school products, based on the standard by which we judge human behavior. In other words, moral rules, promoting those things thought of as good and minimizing or avoiding those things thought as bad learnt at early age at home and school. It was recommended among others that School supervisors should create a positive and productive learning environment where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
