MANAGING EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES FOR KNOWLEDGE DELIVERY: CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES

Abstract

In Delta State, Nigeria, the study looked into the problems and solutions for effectively managing educational facilities for knowledge delivery. The survey design used in the study was analytical descriptive. The study's population consisted of all academic and non-academic employees at Delta State's five public universities. By employing the stratified random sampling techniques, the sample size is 450, consisting of 250 academic staff members and 200 non-academic staff members. Two hypotheses and two research questions served as the study's compass. The t-test (statistical package for social sciences, or SPSS) was used to analyze the hypotheses at the 0.05 alpha level, while the mean and standard deviation were used to respond to the research questions. According to the study's findings, among other things, insufficient funding, a lack of a maintenance culture, and the incapacity of school administrators were among the difficulties in facilities management. The results also showed that outsourcing facilities management services, maintaining facilities well, and increasing educational funding were some of the tactics. A number of recommendations were made by the study, including the need for regular facility inspections, sufficient government funding, and proactive university managers who guarantee efficient facilities management.
