MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOR STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCES IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES
Abstract
Universities are realizing more and more that strategic human resource management, or SHRM, is essential to improving institutional efficacy, flexibility, and competitiveness in the global higher education market. This essay examines the fundamental procedures, difficulties, and potential paths of SHRM in higher education, highlighting its function in coordinating human resources with academic institutions' strategic goals. The article also discusses typical obstacles that colleges encounter when putting SHRM into practice, such as financial limitations, striking a balance between organizational objectives and academic freedom, and the requirement for cutting-edge HR technology. Universities can improve recruitment and retention as well as create a creative and cooperative culture that benefits staff, faculty, and students by implementing comprehensive SHRM practices. The study concludes that in order for universities to successfully navigate a changing educational landscape and support long-term academic excellence and global competitiveness, SHRM practices are crucial.
