Abstract

The paper examined teacher training programme re-engineering for value centered education. Three research questions which include the impact re-engineered teacher training programmes would have on value centered education and two hypotheses gave direction to the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design, The population was drawn from all Public Secondary Schools in Delta State.  The sample for this study includes one hundred and eighty four principals, teachers and educators randomly selected from across the state. A self-structured questionnaire entitled “Teacher Training Programme Re-engineering for value centered education” (TTPREFVCE) was used to obtain the needed data. The study concludes that re-engineered teacher training programmes has a significant positive impact on value-centered education.The paper recommends amongst others that tteacher training programmes should systematically incorporate dedicated modules focusing on ethical reasoning, social responsibility, and emotional intelligence to better prepare teachers for fostering value-centered education in classrooms.
