INFLUENCE OF JOB SATISFACTION ON TEACHER’S JOB PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL IN BENUE STATE, NIGERIA.

This study investigated the influence of job satisfaction on teachers' job performance in public secondary schools in Benue State, Nigeria. Key variables examined included staff welfare, physical facilities, principals' leadership styles, staff promotion, and staff training-factors identified as critical to both teacher satisfaction and performance. the study adopted a descriptive survey design. The teachers and principals from 304 government-owned population comprised 4,888 teacher secondary schools, with a sample of 370 participants selected using a multistage sampling technique. Data were collected using a researcher-developed questionnaire (JSTJPQ), whose reliability was confirmed through a pilot test using Cronbach's Alpha. Descriptive statistics mean and standard deviation) were used to analyze research questions, while Chi- square tests where employed to test the hypotheses at a 0.05 significance level. Findings revealed that all the variables significantly influenced teachers job performance. Specifically, staff welfare, had strong positive effects, while leadership style, school location, promotion, and training also played significant roles. The study concludes that enhancing job satisfaction through targeted improvements in these areas can send to better teacher performance.
