RESOURCES MANAGEMENT NECESSITIES FOR ETHICAL AND VALUES BASED EDUCATION, RE- ENGINEERING IN EDO STATE PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

Abstract

The study investigates the resources management necessities for ethical and values education in Public   Secondary Schools in Edo Central Senatorial District. It is aimed at finding out the resource management necessities for ethical and values based education on the academic performance of students in selected Public Senior Secondary Schools. The study is hinged on system theory. Since educational institutions are social systems and  such system are input processing and output system, and in organization the vital linking inputs to outputs through transformation process is management therefore it is imperative to find the influence of resources ( human resources, physical resources ,financial resources) management necessitated for ethical and values based education for student's academic excellence. The study adopted descriptive survey. The  population of the study comprises principals and teachers in the entire Public Secondary Schools in Edo Central Senatorial District. The sample of the study, consist of 118 principals and teachers who where selected through random sampling technique. The instrument used was a self-constructed questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed using the aliket Scale for research questions raised and Independent T-test  for the formulated hypotheses the data collected revealed  that no adequate human and physical resources and are such, they had no influence on teaching and learning of ethical and values. The study made recommendations based on findings that government should recruit more teachers, monitor the activities of principals and provide adequate physical facilities  in Public Secondary Schools in Edo Central Senatorial District.
