Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide empirical evidence on what needs to be done to reengineer ethics and values education for sustainable national development at the basic education school level. Two research questions guided the study. Survey data were collected using a 19-item questionnaire from 525 teachers and analyzed using percentages and mean with standard deviation. The results showed that teachers were in agreement that ethics and values education can be reengineered both from the home and school. It was recommended that the school system be overhauled to ensure that values education is well incorporated into the curriculum.
